Public Access to City Buildings

Until further notice, Mayor Daniel F. Aussem announces that effective at 12:00 noon today, March 17, 2020, public access to all City buildings will be prohibited, except Fire and Police lobby access is limited. Water bill payments should be made online, via U.S. Mail or use one of the drop boxes.

Further, water meter replacements will be suspended until further notice. Public Utility and Public Property staff will be prohibited from entering private homes, as well as building inspections.

Fire and Police services will not be interrupted. Protection guidelines and practices have been implemented for these services.

City Staff will continue to be available via email and telephone to address any concerns during normal business hours. Please refer to www.cityofottawa.org for contact information.

Following the regular Council meeting tonight, all upcoming scheduled meetings are canceled. We are working on establishing a conference call system to allow commissions to meet remotely.

Administrative adjudication scheduled for March 25, 2020 is canceled. Anyone that has a hearing scheduled for that date will receive notice of a new hearing date.

Clarification:
Restaurants and bars that serve food may not have any dine-in customers; however, restaurants may have curbside pickup or drive-through service along with delivery services. Carry outs are also permitted under the order as long as the space is large enough so individuals can still maintain social distancing. This would be the situations where someone makes an online order or telephone order and comes at a specific time when their food is done and picks it up. Please try to keep patrons six feet apart during pick up.
