Flood Plain Message

Almost everything that enters a storm drain/inlet ends up in the closest waterway. This includes dirt, grass, garbage and anything else that collects on streets and can make its way into the nearest storm drain. These materials can clog up drainage paths, increase flooding, cause degradation to water and floodplain quality, and cost taxpayers money… Dumping in storm drains and mowing grass clippings into streets is illegal. If you see or suspect illegal dumping in storm drains call the City at 815-433-0161 ext. 225.
