Courses Offered:
Heartsaver CPR/AED – $50:
- Description: This course is for lay rescuers (non-healthcare) who want to learn techniques to save adult, child, and infant victims of cardiac or respiratory arrest. It covers one-person cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), how to treat a choking victim, and how to use an AED.
- Certification: 2 years
- Class Length: 4 hours
BLS for Healthcare Providers – $60:
- Description: Designed for healthcare professionals, this course teaches techniques for resuscitating adult, child, and infant victims of cardiac and respiratory arrest by one or two rescuers. It includes airway obstruction techniques for conscious and unconscious patients, rescue breathing, using a Bag Valve Mask, and AED usage.
- Certification: 2 years
- Class Length: 4 hours
Heartsaver CPR/AED & First Aid (Privately scheduled groups of 5 or more) – $75:
- Description: This course is for lay rescuers (non-healthcare) and covers CPR techniques, choking victim treatment, and AED usage for adult, child, and infant victims of cardiac or respiratory arrest. It also includes basic first aid skills, teaching how to manage illnesses and injuries until professional help arrives, covering medical, traumatic, and environmental emergencies.

- Class Length: 6 hours
Course Registration:
Currently, no scheduled classes are available, but classes can be organized based on community needs. The Ottawa Fire Department aims to offer regular classes soon.
- Registration: Fill out the provided form and answer all questions fully.
- Payment: Required prior to scheduling or registering for a class.
- Policy: Registrations are non-refundable.
- Age Recommendation: AHA recommends students be at least 9 years old to participate.
Local schools, medical offices, and businesses with large groups can submit a single form with the estimated number of students and names, if available. Dates and times can be flexible to suit your schedule.
Location: Courses will be held at Ottawa City Hall or other city building. They can also be conducted on-site at your facility if the site is deemed acceptable.
